Our Mission

While many companies have profit as their mission: our mission is three-fold. We strive to improve our community (that's you!), serve our environment, and make a living doing it.

The most irrigated, fertilized, and pesticided crop in the USA is one that we cannot eat, cannot use, and cannot easily admire. These grass lawns use a singular, non-native that requires more care and money than other more sustainable, more attractive approaches to the American Dream.

Using a diversity of native and naturalized plants would require less to none of these supplemental irrigations, fertilizers, and pesticides. The diversity of plants would bloom at a range of times throughout the year, supporting our American wildlife, including the beloved bee. They would require less water and fertilizer because they evolved over millennia to this ecosystem. Further, grass lawns suffer from being a single species. When a grub, disease, or pollutant is introduced to a grass lawn, the grass has no defense mechanism. Meanwhile, there is no grub or disease that can defeat an alliance of native and naturalized plants, who have created defenses in their evolution here and can work together to ward them off.

The grass lawn has been sold to you as a simple, pretty fix. Indeed, there are many species of grass that are native to the USA that function perfectly well without landscaper intervention. However, these native grasses grow more quickly, more tall, and require constant mowing by a slew of herbivores to stay low. We will tailor the native plants that we offer, which could include native grasses, to your property and your needs. If you want something simple and pretty, we could select a variety of rugged, low-lying plants that do not grow just beyond the ankle. They’ll have the green of the lawn with which you’re familiar, but their flowers will make your lawn stand out in the community. While we could mow them for you, they would not need mowing or watering to thrive. They could be edible too!
